CWA Foundation helps at risk youth understand welding opportunities

The CWA Foundation and Liberty for Youth are teaming up to provide at risk youth with hands-on experience related to the Canadian welding industry.  Several youth from the Hamilton area will tour CWB Group’s headquarters and their Advanced Welding Technology Centre (AWTC) in Milton, ON to learn how welding fuses the world.

“We’re very pleased to be collaborating with such a great organization like Liberty for Youth and helping at risk youth understand the vast career possibilities in the Canadian welding industry,” said Deborah Mates, Executive Director of the CWA Foundation. “I truly hope this sparks their interest and provides them with inspiration that there is an alternative to a better life. Today’s youth is the next generation – we need to ensure we provide them with the tools necessary to succeed.”

On March 10, 2014 from 11 am to 1 pm, several youth from the ages of 14-19 will test their skills on a state-of-the-art virtual welding simulator that has the abilities to mimic realistic working environments. They will also learn about various career options in the Canadian welding industry and the numerous welding processes.

“This is going to be an eye-opening experience for the youth and we’re looking forward to seeing how they immerse themselves into this learning experience,” said Frederick Dryden, Founder and Executive Director of Liberty for Youth. “We’re pleased the CWA Foundation provided us with an opportunity to present a viable career option to them and we’re thankful for their commitment.”
