Second Career Award

Promoting and encouraging the pursuit of post-secondary education in welding to individuals looking
to start a second career in welding

Overview

The CWA Foundation Second Career Awards Program was founded in 2015 for the purposes of promoting and encouraging the pursuit of post-secondary education in welding to individuals looking to start a second career in welding. The awards are for applicants who show an aptitude and passion for the welding industry and/or financial need, and are applying to a certified welding program offered by a publically funded Canadian College or University.

Individuals that are currently enrolled or been accepted for admission to a certified welding program offered by a publically funded Canadian Post-Secondary Learning Institution.

Students that are accepted into a 1st, 2nd or 3rd period apprenticeship welding or pre-employment welding program are also eligible to apply, to cover cost of initial enrollment. Application must be within 2 months of enrollment.

Individuals that are selected for the award but are on a waiting list for admission also qualify. The award will be paid to the institution directly and remain under the students name or student number until the anticipated acceptance date. If the student is not accepted and does not attend the program the funds will be transferred back to the CWA Foundation and added to the scholarship funds of the following year.
